Why did you enter the Torfaen & Monmouthshire Business Awards?
We are going through an exciting period of programme growth and have introduced new innovative technology developed right here in Torfaen to the global aircraft seating marketplace. We entered the awards to showcase the skills and efforts of our team to the wider community and the positive impact and contribution they are having for the local economy in Wales.
What did winning mean for you or your business?
Winning for our business meant recognition for the efforts of our people, not just in the design and manufacture of aircraft seating but for all the other things they do too! Their charity, community and school outreach work was considered as part of the award process which was a real plus for us, giving them the feeling that the work they are doing to support community activities is valued by our community partners. Our efforts around diversity and inclusion were also recognised, again a real focus for us.
What did you think of the awards ceremony?
The award ceremony was fantastic and it was a great opportunity to network with local business leaders and understand the amazing things businesses are doing right across the local area.
What’s been a challenge for you or your business during the last year and how did you overcome it?
We have been recruiting heavily, and we still are! We have roles available across our functions including in engineering, manufacturing production, supply chain and more. This is due to the ramp up in demand across our programmes and we recently held a large onsite recruitment evening with over 160 local people attending which has helped us overcome some of this challenge. As our programmes progress we continue to recruit into both technical and leadership positions and winning this award has certainly helped us on this journey.
What’s been a highlight for you or your business over the last year and why?
There have been many highlights for our business. Alongside the introduction of new products and services to the aircraft seating market, we have won multiple awards for our community and wellbeing activities, industry innovation and of course the Torfaen and Monmouthshire Employer of the Year Award. Seeing the level of demand increase significantly has been a real highlight, following the downturn caused by the pandemic, which has led to lots of new colleague joining us.
What are your goals for 2024?
Continue to grow, continue to recruit and deliver the best passenger experiences in the sky!
What’s the best thing about running a business in Torfaen & Monmouthshire?
It’s a fantastic area that has many of the highly skilled people we need locally to make us a success.
