Congratulations, Llongyfarchiadau, to SNOAP for winning Green Business of the Year at this year’s Torfaen & Monmouthshire Business Awards. Hear what Lisa had to say:
Why did you enter the Torfaen & Monmouthshire Business Awards?
I entered the Torfaen & Monmouthshire Business Awards as the mission for my business is local presence (and getting that spot on) and then the wider market. I am a member of the Monmouth Chamber of Commerce and feel strongly about supporting local businesses. The chance to be highlighted as the Green Business of the Year for my local area, and letting people know about me and SNOAP was the driver for me to enter.
What did winning mean for you or your business?
Winning is amazing, I have had so many messages of congratulations, it’s been fantastic. Being in the sustainable space, there is a lot of great competition out there, SNOAP offers something truly unique, and to have the credibility of winning this award has added so much strength to the image of my business, I am very proud of this award, very proud indeed. It is also a talking point now, when I present SNOAP to businesses all over the UK, I always mention this award, and it always impresses.
What did you think of the awards ceremony?
The awards ceremony was a lovely evening, it happened to be my birthday too, so it was a special night for me. My husband and I attended and really enjoyed the evening. The food was lovely too.
What’s been a challenge for you or your business during the last year and how did you overcome it?
As SNOAP is a new concept, the challenge is in the messaging. SNOAP has a story that needs to be told, that’s why I do so many presentations on it. Overcoming it is a work in progress, but the award has help with that. When you win an award like Green Business of the Year, people take more notice, they are more interested as you already have proof of something great.
What’s been a highlight for you or your business over the last year and why?
My business highlight has been crossing the 26,000 single-use plastic bottles stopped from polluting over environment due to homes and businesses switching to SNOAP. Each bar of SNOAP replaces 10 single-use plastic bottles – so the more people who switch the bigger our positive impact, and I super proud of that.
How did you hear about this years business awards?
I was invited to last years awards as a guest, it was such a lovely local occasion I decided to enter this year, and am really pleased I did.
What are your goals for 2025?
My goals for 2025 are more of the same really. I am working more closely with businesses to make the switch to SNOAP as the volume and therefore positive impact is greater there. So more emphasis on B2B sales. I’d like to stop 50,000 single-use plastic bottles polluting our environment – that’s my main goal.
What’s the best thing about running a business in Torfaen & Monmouthshire?
The best thing about running a business in Torfaen and Monmouthshire are the people, there are lots of businesses in the area, so people understand business, which is great. Our location is great, I travel up and down the country with ease. There is also a lot of support from organisations like the Chamber of Commerce, The Alacrity Foundation and of course the awards, which bring businesses together. We were sat with the best people at this years awards, it really is a special place to be in business.
